Painting

A diptych with two painting, painted by the great M. Leyendecker. The first painting is a lady and the other one a gentleman. The portraits are in a traditional style, and they are both portrayed in traditional clothing. The lady is sitting on a chair, and the gentleman is standing, with one hand in his pocket. Mathias Leyendecker has signed both paintings in the lower left corner. Both paintings come without a frame.

 

Painter

Mathias Leyendecker mostly painted portraits and exhibited his work in Paris in 1848. His work has been exhibited in many museums, like the Musée d’Orsay, Paris, France, Musées Nationaux de Mme Leyendecker, Musée de Louvre, Musée de Luxembourg, Musée de Lyon, Dépôt de l’Etat and the Palais de l’Elysée. Mathias Leyendecker is included in the National Art History Documentation Center (RKD) in The Hague, Netherlands. The artist Mathias Leyendecker is also mentioned in the ‘Benezit Dictionary of Artists’.
